Growing up on Chicago’s West Side, Demarcus discovered early on that artistic expression was not just a hobby, but a calling. One formative summer at the Art Institute of Chicago introduced him to specialized courses that helped him shape his unique creative voice.

After high school, he joined the Air Force with the goal of financing his design education. During his first semester at Specs Howard, a small private school in Detroit, Demarcus launched his own custom T-shirt line—Splurge Clothing. With each class and semester, the brand expanded rapidly. By the time he graduated, he had built a fully operational clothing line complete with a website, marketing strategy, and the business foundation needed to thrive.

Since its official launch in 2015, Splurge Clothing has grown to include custom apparel and sneaker design. Demarcus also dedicates his time to mentoring emerging designers and artists, helping them navigate the often-overlooked business side of the creative world. Committed to community uplift, he regularly participates in outreach programs, workshops, and volunteer efforts.

When asked what “Splurge” means to him, Demarcus explains that it represents treating yourself and pursuing happiness—not just through material things, but by investing in your education, personal growth, and future. Each year, Splurge Clothing donates a portion of its proceeds to charitable organizations, continuing the brand’s mission of giving back.
